A COUNTRY'S ALBATROSS I

The pre 1914 protectorates of North and South where power houses and respectively had their destinies in their hands. Even with the annexation or if you like the occupation of the areas by the British, the owners of the land namely Hausa Fulani, in the North, the Yoruba and Bini in the South West, and the Ibo majority with the people of Anioma, Ogwashi, Igala who migrated to the Niger inland-Onitsha mixing up with the natives, the Ijaw, Ishekiri, Urohbo, Ibibio, Efik; they all were fending for themselves with a very boisterous trade relationships spanning to Timbuktu and Upper Volta regions. NORTHERN PROTECTORATE As early as 4000 AD, the the caliphate was up and running with its administrative structures. The Kano emirate, Bornu empire the Sokoto caliphate had through the years established itself in trade with its neighbors. These ancient cities were centres of trade for cattle, groundnuts, millet and slaves with legal tenders such as salts, tusks, hides, skin, cowries exchanging hands as money. They was connectivity by means of camels, donkeys up to the Nile of ancient Egypt. Herds men continually in search of pastures journeyed through the deserts up to Timbuktu. So it was up on till the late Seventeenth century when the British invasion/incursions started to gain foothold. Great leaders like Queen Amina, Usman Dan Fodio were products of this system and were very effective in their leadership styles and administrative prowess over seeing various conquest at different times. They were predominantly Muslims and traditionalists with tendencies for jihad. SOUTHERN PROTECTORATE-SOUTH WEST In the South it was a little more complex and sophisticated in that there was absence of homogeneity. This is because of the ethnic make up and belief of the indigenous people. The Yoruba kingdoms of Ife and Oyo were established in the early part of (between) 4500 to 5000 AD and had their administrative and trade structures established while the Bini kingdom was also established around the same time and known for their teracuta works of ancient arts which were exported to Europe as very exotic artifacts by explorers. They were both traditionalists with oduduwa as ancestral patriach and olorun as deity. They both had tribal marks which were distinct and showed origin; their trade spanned up to the Upper Volta exchanging wares and slaves for cowries and salt. They were educated in in their taboos, myths and belief systems up to the arrival of the British imperialist in the early Sixteenth century SOUTHERN PROTECTORATE- SOUTH EAST Albeit there is no historical record as to the time of settlement, their origin is Jewish. The Nri kingdom was established as at early Fifteenth century with its power and fame spreading across the area. The Awka kingdom, the Aroh kingdom were all prominent at this point in time. Predominantly traditionalists with deities such as agbala, chukwu, ala and extended trade systems. The Aroh kingdom for instance, were fierce in the slave trade, using mercenaries from Abriba, Ohafia Ezza etc to prosecute military wars on communities they invaded capturing their able bodied men and taking them away for sales up to the Upper Volta. They came to a great deal of wealth and were feared greatly. This people were educated in their taboos, myths and belief systems and they revere yam greatly holding special feasts for the harvest of yam.

SEPP BLATTER: MY AFRICAN PERSPECTIVE

The currently embattled FIFA is a man viewed by the west especially the United States Of America as corrupt, a maffia boss, a racketeering kingpin and all that is negative. He is viewed by them as having brought disrepute to the beautiful and lovely game of football. The scandal hit us all like a thunderbolt, it was even more effective coming to the public domain days after his re-election for a record time as President. It came as the first and last blow from Mrs. Lora Lynch and was very powerful as it has de-mobilized the man and indeed the entire working of the Federation has been crippled. The resultant is the resignation and stand down of Sepp Blatter; revelations of cans of worms from the operational stand point cum ethical workings of the Federation, the revelations of Jack Warner; the arrests of several members of the Executive Committee has completely brought the Federation to a halt. The corruption embedded in its bidding process for hosting right, questions are been raised about the Russian and Quata' rights to host 2016 and 2022. There might be truthfulness in all these; yet not been proven in a court of competent jurisdiction With the foregoing, it will be sheer absurdity not to call for Blatter' head and the re-structuring of the workings and and statutes of the Federation for International Football Association. I, as a citizen in the world, a lover of Football that abhors rot in the beautiful game, will want to submit to the prosecution that they may vilify Blatter and his FIFA; but be reminded that this same man brought some lots of positive changes to the beautiful game leading to increase in viewing and followership, increased television rights, improved sponsorship deals, inclusiveness of the continents of Africa and Asia in a way like never before in all history of the body. He brought the world cup to Africa and Asia for the first time, increased subventions to FAs around the world, establishment of academy across the world to breed the next generation of players. He has invested heavily in goal line technology, introduction of more match officials to reduce cheating and the training and retraining of FIFA badged referees thereby enhancing output. Blatter has passion for the beautiful game and has given more than half his lifetime to improving the quality of the game. To retire him as planned by the Justice Department of the United States, FBI and all other Western prosecutors will be to come down heavily on a man who has given all of himself to the game. I pray you cut him some slack given his age and contributions. Mrs. Lynch, he is a good intentioned man despite the revelations of your investigation. Nwali Theophilus Chinedu

THE IMPENDING TWISTS II

APC-PDP RIVALRY There is a very bitter war of words between the major opposition political party(PDP) learning to be an opposition for the first time in sixteen years and the governing political party(APC) learning and trying to settle down to governance. Their experiences and strength are juxtaposed with their new roles of post 2015 general elections. It is looking more like a personal war between Chief Olisa Metu of the PDP and Lai Mohammed of APC; each on the others throat, to what gain I wonder. Yet again these men know their onion and I am certain they know what they are both up to; whatever it is, I hope it will make our democratic process and experience better. OPPORTUNIST WITHIN THE RANK These are the field characters in this whole opera, they are the actors on the floor of the red chambers; who will swing up and down like a pendulum, and swing fists and chairs based on where their political interest lies as measured and calculated by themselves. They will be actively involved in this process of fighting to dethrone Bukola Saraki with a political mindset of getting new juicy committees, perks and even become the next Senate President; they will be met by an opposite and maybe equal force of the others who strongly will be fighting to protect the Senate President for it is their reasonable service and all they have to protect so as to be able to bargain politically with their opponents, for to loose will mean forfeiture of all the have now like committees they now head etc; and these brouhaha with out recourse to their constituencies. The antics has now been upped by the anti Saraki camp. The Pilot newspaper of 22nd September, 2015 alleged that the sum of fifty thousand dollars is been shared to Senators as Sallah gift with the intention of winning them over to impeach Bukola Saraki on resumption from recess; it further reported that thirty five senators have so far signed up for the job. The paper however failed to tell us who the financiers are and the names of the senators who have signed up. It is on, the battle to out wit the other, time will tell who wins this battle. THE IMPENDING TWISTS I

As I wait patiently for the resumption of the National Assembly from its recess, I cannot help but begin to juggle the scenario in my mind; as will be dramatized by the dramatist persona in the red chambers of the National Assembly. There are several dimensions to this whole gamut of gainstriving, truth is that there are men outside the red chambers, very powerful and influential men who are dictating the tones to the senators; this behind the scene power brokers are the reasons why this senate might implode, because they are diehards political and economic buccanneers with vested interests ready to go to any length to get their wishes even at the expense of the state and electorate. Thus my deductions:- ATIKU-TINUBU WARFARE This war started last year when after the marriage of convenience of NewPDP, Action Congress, All Nigerian Peoples Party, Congress For Progressive Change, A FactFactionAll Progressive Grand Alliance, Bola Ahmed Tinubu (Ashiwaju) became the overall leader of the amalgamation, when he succeeded in installing the chairman of the party and most of the executives. Some party chieftains were not happy but managed on. Then presidential primaries of the APC, where Tinubu technically knocked out Atiku Abubakar (Trakin Adamawa) from the race to the villa; it was not amusing to a well bred politician of the PDM dynastic, a guru in power play. The Trakin Adamawa only bided his time waiting for an opportuned time to strike back. The right time showed up when the APC dawdlled in making a clear choice between Senator Lawal and Senator Saraki for the Presidency of the Senate; he struck like the political predator he is, with precision at the heart of the party and Tinubu who has played lord of the party up till the emergence of Saraki(NewPDP). APC bled while calling for the heads of Saraki and Dogora in the House of Representatives(master minded by Tambuwal-New PDP) added to the emergence of Ike Ekweremadu(PDP) as Deputy Senate President; that is how we got to this point of political limb in the Senate.

BATTLE LINE DRAWN

As I watched an incumbent Senate President sitting in the dock to answer questions bothering on his dealings with the state, then I remembered PMB' 'I am for everybody, and I am for nobody'; it then dawned on me that we are now at the threshold of new frontiers, an uncharted terrain with possibilities of having a preponderance of cataracts, storms of diverse types, strength and degrees, a terrain that might be ladened by landmines and pitfalls of all sorts, a terrain with the possibilities of opening up can of worms and bomb-shell; but can be weathered through by a captain who has a good knowledge of the operational functioning and has master the use of his compass in locating his bearing. In watching the proceedings of the code of conduct tribunal yesterday, I could not help but imagined and likened it to the war the mafiaso in the United States of America; where the Federal Bureau of investigation (FBI) went for the kingpin through the seen arrow heads that ran the crack chain of supply, those fronted in the bootlegging businesses, those that ran the casinos, those that manned the exchequer, through the command chain to the Godfather himself. I feasted on all of it and started understanding how capital intensive it is for the Federal Government, and to consider that in this hunt, the corrupt been hunted has a lot of resources at his disposal and splashes it the best legal firms to retain their services and delay the process as long as possible to tire-out the government. I imagined the resources the US government must have expended to get down the likes of Carine Tramunti, Joseph "Crazy Joe" Gallo, Alphonse Gabriel "Al" Capone, Nocolo Terranova; I realized it would have cost them fortunes, but it was a good and worthy cause which they did starting from somewhere in the lower cadre up to the big guns. The code of conduct tribunal proceedings made rejigg my whole thought process concerning the war on corruption, I then realized that it is going to be systematically planned, tactically executed and legally tried and dispensed with. That the government will need to follow every thread of information, every lead, that investigation must be thorough without leaks along the chain of command(moles) and make a watertight case so as not to be lampooned. All of these will take large manpower, lots of man-hour quantum of resources to execute. The senate president came to the tribunal with over fifty senators led by the deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu, watching on I could not but brood on their action and the scene they created which had a tone of victimization of Bukola Saraki which is very wrong notion and far from the truth; as a matter of fact their actions made me realize that the likes of Bukola Saraki are facades put before us by the real bosses who are faceless and use his likes as smokescreen and decoys to themselves. I am without doubts that whosoever they are, they will be ruffled by the events of yesterday and will most likely start restrategizin a counter, good enough the government is in the know of their antics so will be prepared for them. To their disadvantage unfortunately they wont see or know from where the strike on them will come from; I mean Bukola Saraki would never have imagined himself docked for an offence of 2005, this is why I am without doubts that the war on corruption will succeed and will be sustained by subsequent administrations. Therefore let the faceless bosses take heed not to say like Tommy Devito-Goodfellas "All right so he got shot in the foot, why is it a big fucken' deal?" This will be foolhardy for "If anything in this life is certain, if history has taught us anything, It is that you can kill anyone". Michael Corleone- The Godfather III. Nwali Theophilus Chinedu

THIS NEW ORDER

Like every other agencies of government in the old order, corruption had its grip firmly and ruthlessly on the top brass of the Nigerian Army. It was an open secret the level of rot in the armed forces of Nigeria, so much so that it was visible to the blunt. We saw to our disappointment how Service Chiefs and top Brass in the military became distended and could hardly walk, say more of participating in military drills. We saw how their lifestyle of corruption affected negatively and hindered the prosecution of the war against terrorism. Little wonder why a group of soldiers would disobey an order of a superior and even try killing him; they were labelled dissidents but we knew better, it all resulted as indiscipline took a strong footing cutting across the rank and file. It was further compounded and made repellently frightful with a commander in chief who had no will whatsoever to confront the problem. It spread like a wild fire across the armed forces of the country and dampened the morale of the rank and file. With the emergence of PMB, a new order was instituted and discipline returned to the force and within this short while, has peaked and now the Chief of Army Staff has issued a very outstanding order to the rank and file of the military to the effect that 'all over sized and bloated men in the force must have by December this year sharpen up to fitness and alertness or be shown where they belong'. It is very instructive this order, because all over the world; military personnel are sharp and disciplined, rearing to go at any moment that duty calls. In our clime however, Generals are bloated and even obese as a result of lack of discipline and scarce physical training, care free lifestyles that leave them dangerously vulnerable; for men who are supposed to be alert at all times not knowing where or when a surprise attack might be sprung on them. I therefore remove headdress and give three happy cheers to General Brutai the COAS for this timely order to his men, hoping that the Naval and Air Forces brass will follow suit and shape up like every disciplined armed forces around the world. The promotion of five thousand personnel who distinguished themselves in the war against the insurgency is an incentive like no other that will steer up patriotism and the three hundred million naira to injured and deceased soldiers and for the school fees of the children will be a great solace to the families affected, and they will know that the country is grateful to them for the sacrifices their loved ones have had to make. We need a disciplined military in Nigeria, a military in shape and vigilant to counter all forms of aggression local or foreign, for as OTTO VON BISMARCK once said "the great questions of the time will be decided not by speeches and resolutions, but by iron and blood".

THE JURY IS OUT

The Greek election is over and the results show how the people(majority) view the actions and mode of handling the #Grexit crisis by the Syriza led by Alexis Tsipras; and their verdict is a vote of confidence on Syriza. This they did notwithstanding that the Syriza party showed signs of self implosion when in the heat of decision making, some of its ranking members and officials backed down by not supporting the negotiations at Brussels led by Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras; in which we all watched how all the tough talks and stands of the Syriza, they bent over and accepted a deal that was viewed by even the International Monetary Fund saw as not sustainably feasible in the long term. However, Syriza led by Tsipras and backed by some of the right wing politicians in parliament went through with it. What is more, Alexis Tsipras noticed the crack in his own party and decided to call an early election; a states man' attitude I must say, and he also wisely used the election to gauge the pulse of the Greek people concerning his handling of the crisis and now the jury is out and no one is in doubt what it is. Moving forward from here, the work will be even tougher for Syriza and its allies. They will need to form an alliance and a government quickly and get down to the business of managing the bailout funds that will roll in so as to stimulate the right kind of growth and instill the needed confidence in foreign direct investment which will take the Greek economy to the next level of self sustenance. The Greece people might not understand the rigorous negotiations behind closed doors to secure a bailout, but they sure understand and care about their bank accounts, the food on their table, affordability of their basic needs and the like. I urge the Syriza and its coalition to settle quickly to work and find ways to rejigg the economy for the sake and good of Greece and Greeks who has faith in their ability to turn the economy around on the route of prosperity. THE END GAME

The President of the Senate, Senator Bukola Saraki is playing Struthio camelus and it is now obvious even to the dumbest of man in this country that Saraki has shown desperation; trying to juggle the system to see if he will succeed in thwarting the laws, he is supposed to make and protect. His presidency no doubt is under peril, which I strongly believe was caused by himself; for not coming to equity with clean hands and I will be indeed ignorant to assume his innocence with the hyped desperateness from him. Firstly, on getting his summons from the code of conduct tribunal he sort for and got an injunction restraining his been compelled by the tribunal from a Federal High Court; saying he was not sure justice would be served him in the tribunal. What justice is talking about? He has been reported to have arranged with the National Association Of Nigerian Students to protest against his prosecution, NANS of some zones have distanced themselves from the purported protest; some civil society groups have also been roped into the protest. At what price? We can not be so depraved and perverted a people as to take sides with an obvious wrong; Senator Saraki should man-up and face his foibles. The litmus test of the resolve of this government to fight the perennial and hydra headed monster called corruption is on, we shall watch to know how resolved PMB is. The political class whose penchant for corruption is luxurious, will most certainly begin to 'take dressing' from the 'new normal'; no more shall the electorate be taken for granted, our leaders must be what they profess to be and live above board to be able to put the led in check. A fraudful Senate President, will preside over a treacherous senate and how calamitous, foreboding and inausicuous that will be for both the hallowed legislature and Nigerians; for we are judged by the quality of our leadership. All our leaders therefore, elected or appointed and indeed all public office holders it is your endgame, there are no longer safeness in short changing the common man in any mien because the long arm of the law will capture you. COPING WITH THE TONGUE AS CHRISTIANS

"And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell" James 3:6 (KJV) A christian is a disciple of Christ Jesus, a disciple is a pupil, student, an apprentice learning the skills of the master with a vision of becoming like the master if not more. Our Lord Jesus Christ came to do a work and knew he was limited by time in his human nature, so chose and raised men he set aside, tutored and mentored in His life of prayers, teachings of the good news, healing of the sick, raising the dead back to life and increased their faith by telling them that greater things than they have seen Him do shall they do in His name. He also told them of his sufferings, death and resurrection and ascension into heaven; He promised them not to leave them orphans but to send them the Holy Spirit that will lead them into all truths and it was fulfilled on Pentecost when the church was birthed. Christians are therefore marked by the Holy Spirit of God in them, cf Eph.1:13-14, 2nd Cor. 1:21-22, 1Pet. 1:23 and as such should live lives worthy of our calling. The church of God is comprised of Christ as head while the christians are members of His body. It becomes pertinent that christians must lead Holy lives without which no eyes shall see God. The tongue is one organ of our members that defile us thereby breaking our link with God; as the body is pitched in a-position with the Spirit of God in us. The seriousness of the matter was raised by Christ Himself in Mtt. 5:22,"But I say unto you, that whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of judgement: and whosoever shall say to his brother Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire".KJV. It becomes something one must consciously pray about as a christian, that God should tame the tongue so as not to offend Christ Jesus (2nd Tim 2:14, Jer 23:22); but rather live in the Spirit such that we are mindful of what we say no matter the difficulty(2nd Tim 2:3) in order to be worthy disciples of Christ Jesus (2nd Tim 2:19) Nwali Theophilus Chinedu

DECEPTIVE CHANGE

Two things defines a man,'Your Patience when you have nothing and your Attitude when you have everything' In the just concluded general elections in Nigeria, we voted along ethno-religious lines and without apologies to nobody, thats who we are. Politicking and electioneering stunts are all over and all Nigerians irrespective of our ethno-religious linings expects no less than a good and accountable leadership bases on the mantra of change on which PMB drove into the Aso Rock. "There are no principles; there are only events. There is no good and bad, there are only circumstances, in order to guide them. If there principles and fixed laws, nations would not change them as we change our shirts, and a man can not be expected to be wiser than an entire nation". Honore De Balzac(1799-1850). Following events in the last hundred days of PMB' administration, he has left no one in doubt about his policy thrusts. However though, there seems to be a confusion on what he is really driving at by his appointments so far and body movement towards christians in Nigeria. It seems to me that there is an undeclared war or should I say silent jihad against christians in the country. I am worried because he promised change, leaving me to wonder if change he ment included short changing millions of Christians that voted and supported him even though I did not, I worry if it includes shutting down the children church in Aso chapel, I brood if his change includes banning a choir not to sing in the Aso chapel, I ponder I relocating the Aso chapel was part of it, wether introducing Islamic studies in the educational curriculum and making it compulsory was factored in, and El Rufai closing down of churches and seminaries in Kaduna State was it in the change agenda? Well then I have a message for PMB and his fellow jihadists "THE CHURCH OF GOD IS MARCHING ON, AND THE GATES OF HELL SHALL NOT PREVAIL AGAINST IT". This aspect of change shall be met with the resistance of the martyrs and with prayers. Islamization was not part of the change and you rightly said so, only to go back on your word; deceptive change. A promise of change was made to Nigerians, and millions believed and voted the APC taking the mantra for what it means and its limits in a secular country like Nigeria. I would hope that change for you does not preclude the freedom of Christianity in any part of this country, not even in the Aso Rock. "I THOUGHT TO MYSELF WITH MEANS, WITH WHAT DECEPTION, WITH HOW MANY VARIED ARTS, AND THROUGH THESE VARIATIONS THE WORLD IS MADE MORE BEAUTIFUL". -Francesco Vettori- There must therefore be no trepidation of Christians to worship in Aso chapel, Kaduna or any part of the geographical entity called Nigeria. LEADERSHIP PARADIGM IN NIGERIA

"Men are more ready to repay an injury than a benefit because gratitude is a burden and revenge a pleasure". Tacitus C. (AD 55-120).
To say that as a country we are dilatory in democratic growth will be politically accurate, just as to say that we are better today in our democratic awareness than in 1999 will be economically truthful. In most systems of government across the globe, the legislature is always a constant giving a clue of how important this arm of government is.
Since 1999 when Nigeria returned to democratic rule, there has been the challenge of who emerges leader of the legislature be it the Senate President or Speaker House of Representatives. The presidency under President Olusegun Obasanjo OBJ was very influential in determining the outcome of the tussle in the hallowed chambers be it the green or red one. It Salisu Buhari that was the crowned prince by the king makers of Aso Rock as speaker of the house of representatives only to be disgraced out of office as both a fraud and a cheat, to the chagrin of Nigerians. The senate was not spared the wrath of the villa as OBJ new the language the then house understood very well 'ghana must go bags' were constantly shipped into the and he got what he wanted. It is still fresh in our memories how that we started with Chief Evans Ewerem, to Dr. Wilberforce Chuba Okadigboli Okadigbo (Oyi of Oyi), Chief Adolphus Wabara, Obj was relentless until he ran into a brick wall when Senator Ayim Pius Ayim became president of the Senate and teamed with Ghali Umar Na' Abba to plot his impeachment and that calmed him. The National Assembly became stable with Sen. Ken Nnamani as president of the senate through to Sen. Bonaventure Acholonu David Mark who had an iron grip.
The current National Assembly however at inauguration took off on a wrong footing, when the principal leaders Sen. Olusola Saraki and Hon. Yakubu Dogora emerged as president and speaker of the senate and house of representatives respectively; against the party'  directives. The presidency broke its tradition of influencing the out come and distanced it self from the leadership tussle in the National Assembly, the party APC threatened fire and brimstone as sanctions to the rebels in order to check future dissidents among its rank; but decided that sleeping dogs should lie.
However, recent developments point to the fact that revenge is in offing and the body language of PMB is obviously tandem with the party exposing the senate president as vulnerable.
Senator Bukola Saraki is been hounded by the Federal Government for false declaration of his assets, a warrant has now been issued for him to appear for questioning but out smarted them by securing an injunction. Interesting times are upon us as there no more sacred cows and every is subject to the law. If the senator has nothing to fear why not go and let the law exonerate you, unless ofcourse you are not telling Nigerians the whole truth; in that case Mr. Senate President do the desirable and honourable thing by resigning.
"Honesty is actually a blunt instrument, which bloodies more than it cuts". Robert Greene.

HUNDRED DAYS OF CLEAR STATEMENT OF INTENT.

To the glory of God, Ebonyi State was created on 1st October, 1996 by late Gen. Sani Abacha (God rest his soul). It was at the time least expected that the state would be created, not a sign of body movement by the junta indicated it will materialize; in fact it was later learnt that the late dictator decided on his own to create the state and the people will always thank God for Abacha. The people were least prepared for leadership especially those from the old Abakaliki block (North and Central Zones) who were more populous and most backward educationally and stricken by water borne diseases like guinea worm, cholera and their likes. Those of the south zone (Afikpo and Ohanivo) were better off comparatively.
At inception, Navy Captain Walter Feghiabor became its first administrator as a state, he duely handed over to Comopol Simeon Oduoye who was incharge till 1999. They both did their bits in bettering the lots of the state and its indigenous owners.
Dr. Sam Ominyi Egwu became the first indigenous governor of the state, being an academic he dedicated a huge chunk of the state resources to free education and scholarship, human empowerment and enhancements. He.also asphalted the streets of Abakaliki the state capital. He served his term in 2007 and Chief Martin Nwanchor Elechi succeded him. For the records, circumstances that threw up Chief Elechi as standard bearer of the then PDP was covert, however he was accepted by all in part because he was one the literary soldiers whose pen became mightier than the sword in 1996.
Whatever the circumstances were that brought him, he became the emperoe wielding servitude across the land with his thrft and frugality. However though, he built bridges of unity in the hinterland to his credit he named them 'bridges of unity'. An octogenarian, but was not in any way deterred by age in his steadfastness and astutely delivered what he believed was best for his subjects.
The melodrama that ensued in the laat months of his term, when he single handedly anointed a successor in the person of Prof. Onyebuchi Chukwu erstwhile minister of health; without recourse to the stake holders(the people) saw his deputy governor Engr. Dave Nweze Umahi pitched against him and eventually became the standard bearer of the PDP.
In May 29th, 2015 Engr. Dave Nweze Umahi was sworn in as the third executive governor of Ebonyi State. In his inaugural speech, he did not mince words in telling the people of his covenant with God and the people. There is a 'new normal' in Ebonyi today, he has shown prospects in choking squandering and impunity, giving a facelift to Abakaliki the state capital by taking some very difficult, stern painful decisions and standing by them; I dare say there is hope with what I have seen, one might say it is too early to draw conclusions; I am however emboldened by the testimonies of his close associates who say that he frowns at mediocrity, he has a plan of what he wants to achieve organized long ago and ofcourse I know engineers to be disciplined and docile. The issue of labour is however a sore that must be treated properly and quickly too. It has been indeed a hundred days of clear statement of intent. Kudos your Excellency and be relentless in driving the development of the state capital and the people of the state.
